Abstract
PURPOSE: To perforate accurately both hard and friable materials such as a super hard alloy, cermet and the like as well as to keep constant peripheral speed of an adjustable reamer by uniting, with a bonding agent, abrasive particles of a diamond, borazon and the like into one body to compose a blade of said reamer.
CONSTITUTION: An adjustable reamer is composed of a primary body 1, a nut 3 and a blade 2 which is a compound of diamond particles or borazon particles 8 and a bonding agent 9 sintered and formed into one body. Besides diamond and borazon particles, white alundum and green carborundum particles and also usable, while a metal bond and a vitrified bond of a ceramic may be used in place of the bonding agent 9. Since the reamer may not only perform an accurate perforation of both hard and friable materials such as a super hard alloy, cermet, ceramic, ferrite, sapphire and glass but also keep a peripheral speed constant, it has an effect of maintaining an excellent accuracy in a surface roughness of the inside.
