Abstract

PURPOSE: To ensure an aimed finishing temperature of a strip, and to stabilize the product quality, by previously computing the thickness variation in each stand, and by adjusting the water rate sprayed between the stands depending on the variation of mass flow caused by above computed thickness variation, at changing thickness while continuing a hot rolling work.
CONSTITUTION: The thickness change computer 1 computes information for changing thickness in the finish rolling work (the adjustment of screw position, the adjustment of rolling speed, and the timing of thickness change), and inputs these data to the screw position controller 3 and the speed controller 4. At the same time, the thickness changing point is tracked between each stand and the timing of spraying water between the stands are determined. Hereupon, the interstand cooling computer 2 receives the thickness variation, the speed variation and the timing of water spray from the computer 1. Then the computer 2 determines the spraying water rate from the variation of mass flow caused by the thickness change and the feed-in side temperature at the finishing stand; this water rateis sprayed on above determined timing. The thermometer 6 installed on the run-out side of the finishing stand effects the feed-back control against the aim temperature on the run-out side of the finishing stand.
