Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify constitution and make possible the angle adjustment of a support bed according to the angle of the polished end face of fibers by providing the support bed pivotally supported angle-adjustably to one side of a pedestal and disposing fiber holding pipes extending in the direction normal to their axis parallel into plurality.
CONSTITUTION: A support bed 22 comprising stainless steel or the like is pivotally supported angle-adjustably to one side part of a pedestal 21, and the support bed 22 is disposed thereon parallel with a plurality of holding pipes 241, 242... holding optical fibers, in the direction orthognal to the shaft 23 pivotally supporting said support bed. These holding pipes comprise e.g. stainless pipes, glass pipes or the like and have an inside diameter slightly larger than the outside diameter of the optical fibers to be inserted and held. These make it possible to simplify the constitution for fixing and holding and to adjust the angle of the support bed holding the optical fibers in accordance with the angle of their polished end faces.
