Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy of knocking detection by providing an amplitude restriction circuit to a reference signal detection circuit in a knocking detection circuit. CONSTITUTION:A reference for knocking strength comparison is used as a guide to average the output of a knocking detector. If a large knocking continues, the reference value increases and lowers the accuracy of detection. To prevent this, an amplitude restriction circuit 12 is installed before a knocking decision signal output circuit 13 which looks for a reference value, and thus restricts the input to the circuit 13. With this construction, the amplitude restriction circuit 12 clanps even a large noise produced by poor adjustment such as tappet clearance in a knocking decision correction circuit 13 and reduces the influence of noise and detects stable knocking.
