Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve wear resistance and corrosion resistance through scattering fine particles of carbide and nitride on the surface, by chromizing the ring plate with edge of the chain for square-hole-piercing machine, then by hardening and tempering the ring plate. CONSTITUTION:Diffused surface layer (f) consisting of iron and chromium compounds is adhered respectively to the martensite structure of an inner ring plate and an outer ring plate having edges of the chain of a square-hole-piercing machine by chromizing the circumference of the base part (m) etc. Then the ring plate is hardened and tempered in order to scatter fine particles (g) of carbide or nitride of chromium on the surface. The thickness of said diffused surface layer is about >=10mu. These treatment allows to form an intermediate martensitic layer (n) made by diffusion of chromium to a certain degree at the boundary between the base part (m) and the surface layer (f). Thus ring plates having edges of high cutting performance is manufactured.
