Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture a saw free of strain caused by hardening at low cost by the procedure in whicn only the blade portion of saw is hardened and the blade portion from frontal blade to under blade is tempered. CONSTITUTION:The blade portion 2 from the trough 2a line to the hill 2b of the saw blade 1 is hardened. If the blade portion 2 alone is hardened, the hardening of the blade portion 2 alone as a single body results. Even if the blade portion 2 alone is shrunk, no influence is exerted on the plate 1a of the saw blade 1 because of small surface area of the blade portion 2 and thus no strain is caused in the saw blade 1. Since the tempering is performed jointly with the plate 1, a light-brown colored film is formed on the whole surface of the blade and thus no rusting occurs for a long period. In the tempering of the blade, the plate 1a portion of the saw blade 1 is chucked, then heated for the portion from the frontal blade to the under blade toward from the trough 2a to the hill 2b of the blade portion 2 gradually, and lastly cooled. Thus, no strain due to temperating occurs, obviating the need for strain-eliminating operation.
