Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable to mass-produce light transmitters at low cost with a metal mold while preventing electric circuit components from breaking, by forming a conductive film on a plastic connector surface for preventing the leak current of an optical fiber from flowing to light-emitting photodetecting elements. CONSTITUTION:Connector 2' at the side of light-emitting or photodetecting element 1 and connector 3' at the side of an optical cable are both made of an insulator of plastics, and metal, such as copper and nickel chromium, is vapor-deposited partly or entirely on the surfaces of those connectors 2' and 3' to form conductive film 8, through which leak current flowing through coating material 6 of the optical cable and optical fiber 4 is flowed to housing 7. Consequently, it never flows to the electric circuit of element 1, and therefore the breakdown of electric circuit parts can be prevented. Further, the main body is made of plastics, so this device can be mass-produced at low cost with a metallic mold.
