Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the abrasion of a sprue part of delivering molten metal into cavity and perform pressure casting smoothly by narrowing said sprue part, flowing a coolant therethrough, and pressing the molten metal in the cavity after confirming the closing of the sprue part by solidification.
CONSTITUTION: Molten metal is injected by a gaseous pressure from a melting tank 10 into the cavity 13 formed by a cope 4 and a middle die member 3. When the gaseous pressure reaches the set pressure of a regulator 17, a coolant is injected from a valve 24 into a cross gate part 9, whereby cooling is started. First, the molten metal solidifies from the lower part of a sprue 19 assuming a conical shape, thereby closing the sprue 19. The completion of the solidification is detected from the temp. measured with the thermocouple 30 disposed in the middle die member 3. Thence, pressure is exerted by a pressing punch 6. After the completion of the solidification, the pressing force of the cylinder 8 is released and the cope 4 is pulled up by the operation of the main cylinder 7. The product is bound to the cope 4 and is removed from the middle die member 3. Again the pressing punch 6 is pushed out to extract the product.
