Abstract

PURPOSE: To make working easy and fin shape uniform and assure long-term corrosion resistance by forming lead-coated double tubes, then forming these by rolling, thereby forming fins in one body.
CONSTITUTION: An inner tube 4 is passes continuously in a lead coating machine 3 combining a die 1 and a pouring ring 2, to coat and fix semimolten lead or lead alloy 5 on the outside circumference of the inner tube 4, thereafter it is passed through the water-cooled die 1, whereby the lead-coated double tubes 7 controlled to required thickness of an outer tube 6 are produced continuously. A lead alloy consisting of 0.5W11wt% in total of one of tin and antimony or both thereof and the residual lead is suitable for the material to be formed into the outer tube, in terms of workability and mechanical strength. After the production of the lead-coated double tubes 7, the tubes are passed between the roller dies 8 and 8 which are formed with thread grooves, whereby the double tubes are formed by rolling to be formed with fins 9 on the outer tube 6, whereby fin tubes 10 are produced continuously.
