Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the corrosion of a reactor with hydrogen halide in the urethane-forming reaction using a catalyst containing a platinum group metal, a heterocyclic tert-amine, and hydrogen halide, by using a reactor made of zirconium.
CONSTITUTION: A reactor made of zirconium is charged with (A) a catalyst containing a platinum-group metal, a heterocyclic tert-amine and a hydrogen halide [e.g. 0.005W0.1wt% (based on the reaction liquid) of palladium,1W10mol% (based on hydrogen halide) of 2,6-dichloropyridine and 0.1W1.5wt% (based on the reaction liquid) of hydrogen chloride], (B) an aromatic nitro compound such as nitrobenzene, and (C) an aliphatic lower alcohol such as a 1W4C alcohol. The components are reacted together under the carbon monoxide pressure at 100W200°C, pref. 140W200°C and 1W500kg/cm2, pref. 20W200kg/cm2 for 10min to 6hr, under stirring, to obtain an aromatic urethane.
