Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance combustion performance by providing several collision wall surfaces with which a jet stream of fuel collides at a prescribed incident angle in the diesel engine wherein a fuel injection nozzle can not be arranged on the center line of a cylinder.
CONSTITUTION: Fuel jet streams j1Wj4 from the fuel injection nozzle 2 collide with the collision wall surfaces w1Ww4 of a combustion chamber 3 at prescribed incident angles θ1Wθ4 respectively. Adjacent ones of collision wall surfaces w1Ww4 are connected with each other at curved surfaces c1Wc4 having optional curvature. By this constitution, formation of mixed gas having excessive density locally in the combustion chamber 3 is prevented and air is mixed with fuel sufficiently, and thus sufficient combustion performance can be obtained.
