Abstract
PURPOSE:To stop the rotary shaft at the desired position by arranging multipole permanent magnets on the rotary shaft at the opposing positions so that one magnet can be slidden and engaged with the fixed side and by utilizing the attracting and repelling of the multipole permanent magnets. CONSTITUTION:The cylindrical multipole permanent magnets 1 and 2 are fixed on the rotary shaft 5, and the square shaped multipole permanent magnet 3 is arranged between said magnets 1 and 2 so that the magnet 3 can be slidden. The poles of the permanent magnets 1-3 are so arranged that the magnets 2 and 3 attract each other and the magnets 1 and 3 repel. A stopper 4 is arranged between the permanent magnets 1 and 3, and a stopper 7 is provided to a case 6 on the fixed side. Under this condition, the square shaped permanent magnet 3 contacts with the stopper 7, and the rotary shaft 5 is stopped. When the external force is applied to the rotary shaft 5 and the shaft is rotated, the magnets 2 and 3 repell, the magnet 3 enters the part between the spacer 4 and the stopper 7, and the rotary shaft 5 can be freely rotated. In order to stop the rotary shaft 5 again, the external force in the opposite direction is applied.
