Abstract
PURPOSE: To enhance wear resistance, abrasion resistance, scuff resistance, and the like by flame-coating a specific ferromolybdenum alloy to at least the sliding coupling surface of a pinion shaft by a plasma flame coating method.
CONSTITUTION: A differential means 1 is composed of a differential case 2, the pinion shaft 3, a pinion gear 4, a driving shaft 5, a gear 6, and a driving gear 7. Powder of the ferromolybdenum alloy is flame-coated to the sliding plane 3a between the pinion shaft 3 of said differential means 1 and the pinion gear 4 thereof by the plasma flame coating method. Said ferromolybdenum alloy comprises 50W 70% MO, 6% or less C, 3% or less Si, 0.1% or less P, 0.2% or less S, 0.5% or less Cu, and Fe for the remaining part. The composition of the alloy comprises a solid solution α wherein iron is solidly resolved in molybdenum, an ε phase comprising iron and molybdenum, and a compound of molybdenum.
