Abstract
PURPOSE:To eliminate the stay of bubbles of liquid helium by a method wherein a superconductor is cylindrically wound around a ring-shaped bobbin, one side of which is opened in the form of a trumpet, and plural said components are overlapped and fitted on each other and a cooling groove for evaporated bubbles is provided between fitted faces in the direction of the cylinder end. CONSTITUTION:The superconductor 2 is cylindrically wound around the outer circumference of the stainless steel or glass-fiber-reinforced plastic bobbin 10, which has groove 9 in the end surface and is ring-shaped and slightly opened in the form of a trumpet, on interposing the conductor spacer 12, the surface of which has the projections 11, and the insulator 13 between the superconductors in order to form the coil 14. Next the cooling groove 6a to let bubbles escape is formed on the outer circumference of the coil 14 in the direction of cylinder end by providing the intercoil spacer 6. After this, the second stage trumpet-shaped bobbin 10 is fitted on it, such a process is repeated to obtain the desired number of stages, and the device is put in a vessel 7 for liquid helium. In this way, evaporated bubbles from the liquid helium will not stay and the stiffness of the entire coil can be increased.
