Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect the position of a cable by utilizing the phenomenon that the phase of the detection signal of a magnetic-field detection sensor is inverted across the point right over the cable. CONSTITUTION:From the end of objective cable 5, a signal current is supplied by AC signal supply part 4, and with it, magnetic-field detection sensor part 1 detects an AC magnetic field generated around cable 5. Magnetic-field detection sensor part 1 consists of magnetic-field detection sensors 101-108 arranged so that maximum sensitivity directions of detection directivity will be equal and nearly in parallel to the horizontal surface, and one phase reference magnetic-field detection sensor 110 arranged at right angles to the direction of those sensors 101-108. Of the detected signal, only the magnetic-field signal components are amplified by signal reception part 2 and then signals of detection sensors 101-108 are detected synchronously with the signal of magnetic-field detection sensor 110. Signal processing display part 3 discriminates the polarity of the signal and, according to the polarity, turns on-off a display lamp to display the position of the cable.
