Abstract
PURPOSE:To impart high toughness to high carbon steel wire, by bending the steel wire repeatedly between drawing processes. CONSTITUTION:Plural roll stands 1 constituted of many rolls, which satisfy a relation d/D=0.03-0.15, where (d) is the diameter of steel wire 3, D is the diameter of the rolls 2, are arranged in two or more directions on a circumference, and the steel wire 3 travels through between the rolls 2. Hereby, the steel wire 3 is subjected to bending repeatedly over the whole length of the steel wire 3 continuously at a >=5 deg. angle. Final drawing after bending is performed at 5-25% reduction of area, and the steel wire 3 is drawn at <=150 deg.C temp. before the final dies, although the temp. of the steel wire 3 is raised by the heat generation due to the drawing and the bending.
