Abstract

PURPOSE:To ensure an easy alteration of the pitch of the secondary scan and then facilitate an easy alteration of the resolution, by carrying out a control of rotations in the direction of the semiconductor laser array againt the main scanning direction to secure a control for the delay of the main scan simultaneously. CONSTITUTION:The light emitting surface of the semiconductor laser array 7 is set inside the surface which is vertical to the optical axis of the lens 3, and the output given from each laser is turned into the parallel beam group 8 through the lens 3. This beam group 8 is put into the deflector 4, and the magnified image on the light emitting surface of the array 7 are formed on the lens 5 in the form of several spots. Then a scanning is secured for the spot image by the deflector 4. Such optical scanner contains the rotational angle attenuating mechanism 9 comprising the gear trans or the like giving a control of rotation to the array 7 plus the micro rotational angle controller incorporating the rotation driving device 10. The rotational angle transmission side of the mechanism 9 is attached to the center of rotation of the array 7. Thus the start of modulation is delayed successively for each laser of the array 7 and against the synchronous signal of the beam scan with every delay time corresponding to the rotational angle of mechanism 9. Thus the pitch of the secondary scan can be varied.
