Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable to reduce crushing power, reduce or avoid HCl attacks and conduct a refuse-treating process efficiently by a method wherein a group of materials which undergo a marked reduction in strength by absorbing moisture are selectively crushed and are separated from another material group consisting of residual combustibles including plastics.
CONSTITUTION: The entire amount of refuse is charged into a hopper 1, a small amount of water is sprayed onto the refuse by a spray 2 or sewage sludge is charged instead of the water spray, thereby moistening the refuse and then the moistened refuse is introduced into a cylindrical crusher 5. The crusher 5 comprises an outer cylinder 3 and an inner cylindrical screen 4 rotating as one body, scraping plates and the like, so that the first group of materials tending to be reduced in strength by absorption of moisture are crushed and are separated out in the cylinder 3 together with earth and small-sized granular incombustibles. Furthermore, a pneumatic sorting machine 8 removes the third material group consisting of incombustibles, thereby separating the first groups and introduces the latter into a pyrolytic device 9.
