Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the titled composition having high strength as well as low insulation loss with time, with extremely simplified process, by compounding a specific amount of a specific ethylene-olefin copolymer rubber to a polyethylene resin.
CONSTITUTION: The titled composition is prepared by compounding (A) a polyethylene resin, (B) an ethylene/α-olefin copolymer rubber wherein the molar ratio of ethylene/(4W10C α-olefin) is about 85/15Wabout 95/5, and (C) an organic peroxide. The amount of the (B) component is selected to give the weight ratio of (B)/(A)+(B) of ≥5wt%, pref. about 10Wabout 30wt%. The α-olefin component of the copolymer rubber is pref. 1-butene. Use of a polyene component as an additional copolymer unit improves the rate of crosslinking and fluidity of the objective composition. The organic peroxide is pref. dicumyl peroxide, etc.
