Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the titled rubber composition having balanced various strengths and rubber characteristics and capable of forming a vulcanizate having extremely high heat aging characteristics, by compounding an ethylene/α-olefin/ polyene copolymer rubber and an ethylene/α-olefin copolymer rubber.
CONSTITUTION: The objective composition is prepared by compounding (A) 100pts.wt. of an olefin rubber mixture consisting of (a) 55W90pts.wt., pref. 60W 80pts.wt. of an ethylene/(4W10C α-olefin)/polyene copolymer rubber (pref. having an iodine value of 4W30) wherein the molar ratio of ethylene/α-olefin is 80/20W 95/5 and (b) 45W10pts.wt., pref. 40W20pts.wt. of ethylene/(4W10C α-olefin) copolymer rubber wherein the molar ratio of ethylene/α-olefin is 80/20W95/5, with (B)≥0.003 pt.mol of an organic peroxide vulcanizing agent, (C) ≥0.003pt.mol of a vulcanization assistant such as a quinone dioxime compound, and (D) ≥0.5pt.wt. of an antioxidant such as a phenolic compound.
USE: Insulation layer of a high-voltage power transmission cable, parts used in the neighborhood of an automobile engine, etc.
