Abstract

PURPOSE:To prepare the titled rubber composition having balanced various strengths and rubber characteristics, and capable of forming a vulcanizate having extremely high heat aging characteristics, by compounding an ethylene/propylene/ polyene copolymer rubber with an ethylene/alpha-olefin copolymer rubber. CONSTITUTION:The titled composition is prepared by compounding (A) 100pts.wt. of an olefin rubber mixture consisting of (a) 55-90pts.wt., pref. 60-80pts.wt. of an ethylene/propylene/polyene copolymer rubber (pref. having an iodine value of 4-30) wherein the molar ratio of ethylene/propylene is 50/50-85/15 and (b) 45- 10pts.wt., pref. 40-20pts.wt. of an ethylene/(40-10C alpha-olefin) copolymer rubber wherein the molar ratio of ethylene/alpha-olefin is 80/20-95/5, with (B) >=0.003 pt.mol of an organic peroxide vulcanizing agent, (C) >=0.003pt.mol of a vulcanization assistant such as a quinone dioxime compound, and (D) >=0.5pt.wt. of an antioxidant such as a phenolic compound.
