Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce high-strength pellets with excellent productivity and excellent economy in a short time period of curing by adding a specified amount of Ba compound(s) into a blended material, in producing the unsintered pellets for use in a blast furnace.
CONSTITUTION: In producing the ion-containing unsintered pellets for use in the blast furnace, one or more Ba compounds such as BaO, Ba(OH)2, BaCO3, BaSO4, etc. are added to iron ore powder, iron dust generated during iron making, iron sand or the like in an amount of 0.1W10.0% (as BaO). To this mixture are added a cement-base binder as a hardening agent and water, and the admixture is granulated, cured and hardened to produce the unsintered pellets. Owing to the addition of BaO, the unsintered pellets excellent in reducibility and crushing strength can be produced in a short time period of curing.
