Abstract

PURPOSE:To prepare a magnetic steel plate with excellent magnetic characteristics, insulation property and space factor by a method wherein a laser beam is irradiated on a surface of the magnetic steel plate having an insulation coating applied thereon at an almost right angle or in parallel to a rolling direction and an insulating material is coated again on the irradiated part with laser beam. CONSTITUTION:On a surface of the magnetic steel plate 1 having the insulation coating applied thereon, the laser beam is irradiated at right angle or in parallel to the rolling direction to expose the surface of the steel plate 1 in irradiation scars 3. A roller-shaped current conducting roll 4 is arranged at an inlet side of an electrodeposition bath so as to be aligned to said scar 3 and the steel plate after laser irradiation is immersed in said electrodeposition bath and electrolysis is applied between appropriately provided opposed electrodes. Then, current is passed when the roller 4 is allowed to contact with said scar 3 to apply electrodeposition painting to the exposed part of the steel plate.
