Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the pellets of dielectric material for a radar reflector having an excellent reflective performance by a method wherein strands of foaming polystyrene kneaded substance containing Al flakes and a slipping agent are stretched to the specific diameter, then cooled and further cut to the special length.
CONSTITUTION: To take an example, 0.2W1mm square Al flakes 5W20pts.wt. and polydimethyl siloxane slipping agent 0.04W0.1pt.wt. are mixed to the foaming poly- styrene 100pts.wt. and the mixture is kneaded in an extruder 1 and extruded in the form of strands out of a die 3. Then, directly after the strands are stretched by a receiving roller 8 so that each 6 of them may have a diameter of 0.7W2mm, they are cooled in a solvent 7 such as water and the like, then cut at 2W10times the diameter of the strand to obtain the intended pellets. Furthermore, each small through hole 5 of the discharging part 4 of the die takes a counter-conical form and the diameter of the outlet holes 5 is preferred to be 2W4times the powder diameters of the Al flakes and the diameters of the inlet holes are preferred to be 2W10mm.
EFFECT: Al flakes are not removed from the section of the pellet and the radiational performance of the radar is prevented from deterioration.
