Abstract

PURPOSE:To permit automatic setting of a proper blind zone by drawing the reception ultrasonic wave above a given level after the detection of a given attenuation of the residual vibration of an ultrasonic transmitter-receiver accompanying transmission. CONSTITUTION:Through a transmission-reception wave change-over circuit 14, the residual vibration accompanying the transmission from an ultrasonic transmitter- receiver 15 and the reflected wave are rectified and smoothed by a diode 28, a capacitor 29 and the like in a residual vibration termination detecting circuit 27 and the envelope output is processed in a comparator 33. When the residual vibration attenuates to below a given level, the output of the comparator 33 inverts to low level. Thereby, the Q output of a JK type FF38 is raised to high level, so that a JK type FF39 is reset. Similarly to that after the residual vibration has been attenuated to below the given value the reception ultrasonic pulse is raised to high level above the given value, the Q output of the FF39 is raised to high level by the low level inverted input via the comparator circuit 33 and an inverter 41, so that the ultrasonic reception wave is detected. Accordingly, a proper blind zone is automatically set to prevent the generation of errors and the like in measurement due to misreception.
