Abstract

PURPOSE:To form a uniform polymer layer on the surface of a porous body by setting properly the concentration of the dispersed liquid of a fluorocarbon polymer, the number of times of coating of an exfoliation material therewith and the number of times of transfer and thereby increasing the adhesion strength of the fluorocarbon polymer to the porous body. CONSTITUTION:The dispersed liquid of the fluorocarbon polymer having heat- sealed property is applied to the surface of the exfoliation material having heat- resisting property such as, for instance, the exfoliation material made from polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and is heated beyond the softening temperature of the fluorocarbon polymer, whereby a fluorocarbon polymer layer is formed temporarily on the surface of the exfoliation material and thus a composite body is obtained. This composite body is arranged so that the fluorocarbon polymer layer thereof contacts with the surface of the PTFE porous body and is heated under pressure to the temperature higher than the softening temperature of the fluorocarbon polymer and lower than the melting point of PTFE, whereby the polymer layer is softened or melted and transferred on to the surface of the porous body. After this, the exfoliation material is exfoliated through cooling and thus the fluorocarbon polymer layer is formed on the surface of the porous body.
