Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the explosion of the battery case, by providing an annular body made of a hard synthetic resin on the periphery of the negative bottom plate, providing the sealing body with an annular-film part, making the film part to be expanded as the internal pressure rises through the gas generation and making shearing stress to be applied to the part, and thereby securing the gas exhaustion toward outside a battery. CONSTITUTION:An alkaline battery includes an anode can 1, a synthetic-resin sealing-body 5 which seals the opening of the anode can 1, and a negative bottom plate 6 which has a gas- discharge hole 6a and is attached to the outer side of the sealing body 5. The periphery of the bottom plate 6 is provided with an annular body 8 made of a hard synthetic resin. The sealing body 5 is provided with a cylindrical part 5b which surrounds a negative collector 7, a part 5a having a -form cross section which covers the annular body 8, and an annular film part 5c which connects the part 5b and the part 5a. An edge 8a of the inner periphery of the annular body 6 is made to be in contact with (5c') the end of the outer side of the film part 5c. As a result, the gas generation in the battery expands the film part 5c, shearing stress comes to be applied to the film part 5c, the part 5c' which touches the edge 8a is broken, and the gas is exhausted outside the battery through the hole 6a.
