Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare an extremely-thin film having excellent isotropy, with a highly efficient apparatus and easy operation, by casting the soldifying a solution of a polymer capable of forming heterocyclic rings on a carrier film, and chemically removing the carrier film.
CONSTITUTION: A heat-resistant polymer capable of forming heterocyclic rings by cyclization, pref. a polyimide, is dissolved in an organic solvent, and the solution is cast on a carrier film. After solidifying the cast film, the carrier film is removed by chemical means. The removal of the carrier film is carried out by the chemical etching with aqueous solution of ferric chloride or hydrochloric acid when the film is aluminum foil, tin foil, or zinc foil, or by dissolving with m-cresol when the film is nylon.
