Abstract

PURPOSE:A protective agent of hair for permanent wave, comprising a keratin hydrolyzate obtained from hair, or animal hair such as wool, a feather, and a hoof consisting of the same keratin protein as the hair as a main agent. CONSTITUTION:A protective agent of hair for permanent wave comprising a keratin hydrolyzate, preferably one containing not less than 5mol% based on total amino acid systeine as half cysteine with respect to the formation of disulfide linkage with hair, as a main agent. The use of this protective agent of hair in the treatment of permanent wave of hair protects hair by adsorption action on hair and by formation action of systeine disulfide linkage with hair, and reduces extremely the damage of hair. The keratin hydrolyzate is obtained by hydrolyzing partly animal hair or a hoof, and its average molecular weight is preferably 300-500.
