Abstract
PURPOSE:To detect the limit of brush life before developing to the critical abrasion by a method wherein a permanent magnet is attached to the upper part of each brush and a magnet-detecting element is provided at the lower part of the allowable shifting region, thereby enabling to detect the magnetism of the permanent magnet. CONSTITUTION:Permanent magnets 17A and 17B are attached to the upper part of the brushes 12 and 13, and the brushes are pressed by a spring 21 through the intermediary of said magnets 17A and 17B. Between the brushes 12 and 13, a magnet-detecting element such as a lead switch 7 or the like is provided somewhere at the lower part of the allowable shifting region of the brushes. The lead switch 7 has the circuit constitution wherein a brush life indicating light is lit when the switch detects magnetism and the contact is closed. Thus, the brush life can be known to the operator before the brushes 12 and 13 attain the critical abrasive condition, thereby allowing to prevent the occurrence of an accident.
