Abstract

PURPOSE: To secure the purity of hydrogen in the generator and to seal a shaft securely without requiring a special circuit such as a vacuum treating circuit by a method wherein an exhaust pipe is extended from a gas part in an oil discharge tank so that hydrogen gas can be discharged by tiny amounts.
CONSTITUTION: Sealing oil fed from a normal pump 17, an emergency pump 18 or a sealing-oil supply pipe 19 flows through a pressure-regulating valve 21, a cooler 24 and the like and is fed into a sealer 4 for the shaft 2 of the generator 1. The sealing oil passed through the sealer 4 is returned to a pump line or a loop seal tank 14 through a defoaming box 7 and a hydrogen shut-off tank 10 while being in the state of containing hydrogen gas mixed therein, on the interior side of the generator. On the other hand, on the exterior side of the generator, the sealing oil is returned to the loop seal tank 14 together with bearing oil, and part of the hydrogen gas and air is exhausted from the tank 14 by an exhaust fan. In this case, a hydrogen discharge pipe 26 is led out from the gas tank in the box 7 and a tiny amount of hydrogen gas is discharged by operating an orifice unit 28, thereby maintaining the purity of hydrogen in the box 7.
