Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce dry air continuously without use of moisture-removing agent, by removing the moisture with a medium temp. heat exchanger as water drops, then with a low temp. heat exchanger as ice, in addn., with deep cooler.
CONSTITUTION: Air sucked through an air inlet 2 is compressed 1 and removed of moisture while passing through a water-cooled heat exchanger 4, a low-temp. air heat exchanger 10, then introduced to an intermediate heat exchanger 12, there it comes into contact with an evaporator 35 at at temp. not lower than evaporation temp. of 0°C, whereby the moisture is removed as water drops. The moisture- removed air is led through a pipe 14 and a four way selector valve 13 to one of low-temp. heat exchanger 15, where it is previously dehumidified by melting latent heat while melting the ice and frost having frozen on an evaporator 42 and is introduced to another low-temp. heat exchanger 15'. In the heat exchanger 15', the air comes into contact with an evaporator 42' at a temp. -55°C and the air is completely removed of moisture by freezing, finally released through an air outlet 25. In the above described intermediate and low temp. heat exchangers are inserted evaporators from which air is sucked in a prescribed manner by a two-stage compressor which composes a refregeration cycle.
