Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain magnetizable fibers suitable for magnetic medical instruments or iron powder collecting filters, by making an organic polymer comprising finely divided ferromagnetic substance having a specific coercive force on magenetization into fibers.
CONSTITUTION: An organic polymer, e.g. polyolefin, polyamide or polyester, is incorporated with preferably 10W40wt% of a finely divided ferromagnetic substance, e.g. an intermetallic compound between Co and a rare earth element, having a coercive force ≥5,000 oerested and an average particle size ≤2μ, preferably ≤1μ. The resulting mixtue is spun into the desired fibers.
EFFECT: Processable into any shape due to the fibrous material.
