Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a title coating material excellent in workability and resistance to boiling water by using the major component consisting of linear polyester obtained from glycol component consisting of 1,4-butanediol and ethylene glycol, and aromatic dibasic acid which contains a small amount of aliphatic dibasic acid.
CONSTITUTION: A linear polyester is produced by reaction of (a) glycol component consisting of 30W70mol% of 1,4-butanediol and 70W30mol% of ethylene glycol, and (b) acidic component consisting of 99.01mol% or more of aromatic dibasic acid such as terephthalic acid, isophthalic acid, or naphthalenedicarboxylic acid and 0.99mol% or less of aliphatic dibasic acid such as adipic acid or sebacic acid. The reaction condition is set so that the obtained linear polyester will have a reduced viscosity of 0.6 or more when measured at 0.4g/100ml concentration in a 1 to 1 mixed solvent of phenol and tetrachloroethane at 30°C. The title coating material is obtained by use of this linear polyester as essential component.
