Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the bacterial leaf curl of Japanese mulberry, by applying the extract obtained from the cultured product of edible mycelia of fungi belonging to basidiomycetes, or its freeze-dried powder to the leaves of Japanese mulberry.
CONSTITUTION: Mycelia of edible fungi belonging to Basidiomycetes (e.g. Cortinellus shiitake) are cultured in a medium. The extract of the cultured product, or an aqueous solution obtained by freeze-drying the extract and dissolving the powder in water, is applied to the leaves of Japanese mulberry or impregnated to the soil. The extract contains a cytokinin-active substance known as a chemical plant growth regulator, as a component effective to the bacterial leaf curl of Japanese mulberry and harmless to the leaves or silkworms. The component increases the Rudp case which is a photosynthetic enzyme existing in the leaves of Japanese mulberry, and decreases the disease incidence rate.
