Abstract
PURPOSE: A new species of fungus belonging to Agaricaceae is cultured to produce said proteopolysaccharide with antitumorigenic activity.
CONSTITUTION: A new species belonging to Agaricaseae, that is, Agaricus heterosistes Heinem. et Gooss (FERM-4731), is inoculated in an enriched medium and cultured preferably by the solid culturing method under aerobic conditions. The mycelia formed are collected by centrifugation or filtration and extracted with an aqueous solvent. Said proteopolysaccharide is obtained from the extract.
