Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the measuring accuracy of a ring laser oscillator by forming predetermined slit in the optical path of a ring oscillator to thereby reduce the diameter of the light beam, thereby reducing the rear scattering of a laser tube from its fine tube end and reducing the width of its lock-in region. CONSTITUTION:Laser oscillation is conducted with a ring oscillator having reflecting mirrors 2, 3, 4 and laser tubes 1, 1' disposed in the ring oscillator. Thus, laser lights 5, 6 are irradiated from the ring oscillator. A slit 10 having internally convexed conical surfaces at both surfaces blackened with carbon or the like on the inner surface is provided for a ring laser oscilator. Thus, the diameter of the light beam in the oscillator is sufficiently reduced lower than the diameter of the fine tubes of the laser tubes 1, 1'. Even if laser oscillated scattered light is existed in the inner surface of the slit, the light scattered backwardly is extremely reduced as compared with the case that the light is irradiated to the fine tubes 1, 1' thereby largely reducing the rear scattered light.
