Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain dot images of high speed and high resolution by performing dot formation in one picture element through one exposure scanning.
CONSTITUTION: When a density image signal 104 is inputted to a driving circuit 102, the light emitting element selection driving signal corresponding to the density level of the image signal is applied to an LED array 100 and the corresponding LED group lights up and the dot-forming projecting light 113 is direction-changed 114 thence images a dot exposure spot 120 on a film 112 plane. A drum 109 is rotated at a constant speed to obtain the position information on the spot 120 with respect to the drum rotating direction. Further, a housing 117, connecting rod 116 and substrate 101 are moved parallel to the drum surface by a motor 119 driven in correspondence to the drum revolution by way of a feed screw 118, whereby the position information of the spot 120 is obtained. The signal 104 is controlled by these two sets of the position information, whereby the dot images are subsequently exposed.
