Abstract

PURPOSE:To make possible the rolled material with thickness varying in all regions specified below to be delivered as the product, in order to improve the yield, by measuring the thickness of this steel sheet of strip type being fed into the reducing roll, and by distinguishing measured thicknesses into the standard region, the allowable region and the off-gauge region, and by rolling the material with the draft percentage corresponding to thickness of respective regions. CONSTITUTION:The thickness of the thin steel sheet 1 is measured by the gaugemeter 6, and the thickness deviation of the material sheet from the set guage is calculated according to the set gauge signal by the deviation detector 7. This thickness deviation is distinguished into three regions; as for the portion belonging to the standard region, the speed of thin sheet is measured by the speed meters 9, 10, installed before and behind the reducing roll 4, and the draft percentage is detected by the elongation meter 11 depending on above obtained speed difference. Next, a ccording to signals produced from the elongation meter 11 and the draft percentage setter 12, the elongation controller 13 operates the rolling controller 14. Hereupon, as for the portion of large thickness deviation, the signal of the deviation detector 11 is sent to the elongation controller 13 through the elongation corrector 15, and the rolling controller 14 is controlled so as to make large the draft percentage correspondingly to the thickness. Besides, as for the portion of deviation of allowable region, the draft percentage is controlled to a small value. On the other side, when the material keeps a constant hardness, the speed controller 16 controls the speed of material passing through the annealing furnace 3.
