Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce the hermetic sintered body which does not require any special sealing by adding the materials which cause eutectic reaction at temperatures below sintering temperature to powder metals being sintering material then molding and sintering the mixture at the time of producing the sintered body.
CONSTITUTION: At the time of producing the sintered body which requires airtightness by powders of iron, copper, aluminum, stainless steel, etc., phosphorus, sulfur, boron, etc. which cause eutectic reaction with these base metals at below sintering temperature are added thereto at 0.5W2%. After these are sufficiently mixed, the mixture is pressure-molded to the specified shape and is then sintered. The additives cause eutectic reaction with the base metal powder and crystallizes melt as eutectic reaction crystals, thereby sealing the pores of the sintered body. If the sintered body is cooled after the sintering, the eutectic rection crystals solidify to seal the entire part of the pore inside, thus yielding the sintered product of superior airtightness.
