Abstract
PURPOSE: To make high-efficiency read possible without inter record gap (IRG) by subjecting read bit data to serial-parallel conversion and by adding a flag bit according to non-signal part detection.
CONSTITUTION: Serial data read out from a magnetic tape, etc., is inputted to shift register 1. This data becomes parallel data for a prescribed number of bits through gate 4 controlled according to the counted value of bit counter 2 and is stored in register 6a of first in first out register 6. Meanwhile, when a non-signal part of the magnetic tape, etc., is detected by non-storage state detection circuit 3 of unit A before storage contents of register 6a are read, the detection bit pulse outputted from circuit 3 is added to register 6a as a flag bit through similar gate 5, and parallel data of a prescribed number of bits with an identification flag added is applied to data processing unit B controlled by data presence and absence detection circuit 6b, etc.
