Abstract

PURPOSE:To measure rapidly and accurately lipoprotein of high or low specific gravity by using a reagent for precipitating lipoprotein of low specific gravity containing a specific amount of not less than one kind of alkali metal ions and NH4 ions in addition to heparin and Mn ions. CONSTITUTION:A reagent which precipitates uniquely lipoprotein of low specific gravity by being added to a blood serum or blood plasma specimen to an even to 200 times volume is obtained by allowing not less than one kind of alkali metal ions and NH4 ions in addition to heparin and Mn ions to coexist to 30-300mEq/l. As a result, a soluble protein polyanion complex is generated by negative charge of polyanion in the specimen and positive charge of protein the specimen and Mn ions are combined with this to get insoluble, thereby precipitating lipoprotein of low specific gravity. Then, lipoprotein of high specific gravity is measured from its supernatant liquid.
