Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce an earthquake impact to a crane body through intrinsic property of a damper at a time when an earthquake occurs, by locating an earthquake- proof damper at a clearance portion between a crane-mounted pier and a wharf.
CONSTITUTION: Two cantilever type projecting stoppers 3 are provided on the surface of a wharf 1 opposite a crane-mounted pier 2. A projecting stopper 4 having an elastic plasticity property is located at the pier 2, an earthquake-proof damper being formed such that the end thereof is positioned between the nip formed by the two stoppers 3 through the medium of a clearance portion 5. A buffer stuff 4 adhered to the end of the stopper 4 absorbs a shock generated resulting from the collision between the two stoppers 3 and 4 at a time when an earthquake occurs. A curved portion 4a is located at a base end portion of the stopper 4 so that a place, whereat a plasticity hinge is generated, can be clearly found and a plasticity deforming amount can increase in the case of a plasticity deformation occurring when the force of inertia applied to the stopper 4 exceeds a yield load. This mechanism gives avoidance of disadvantages to a crane design.
