Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a compressed air feeder wherein the load on an air compressor is relieved and energy is saved by reuse of delivery pressure.
CONSTITUTION: Hot compressed air at a predetermined pressure discharged from a compressor 1 is first fed into a heat exchanger 3, where it is cooled (i.e., "precooled") by heat exchange with compressed air in the tube while flowing through the shell. Then the former compressed air flows into the tube of an aftercooler 2, where it is further cooled by heat exchange with a cooling medium fed in the shell, with moisture and oil fraction in it condensed. The resulting compressed air flows into the tube of the heat exchanger 3, where it is heated by heat exchange with the above-described compressed air discharged from the compressor 1. Thus, the volume decrease of compressed air in the aftercooler 2 is moderated or compensated for by re-expansion in the heat exchanger 3.
