Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent exterior damage of a ring-shaped rib and consequently damage to the side wall by providing the ring-shaped rib with a stress relief groove. CONSTITUTION:In a pneumatic tire for running at uneven ground which is covered with jacket rubber 3 and composed of tire body 1 in troidal form, lugs 5 arranged on the crown part 4 of this tire body 1 in a regular pitch along its circumference and a ring-shaped rib 11 for prevention of exterior damage formed through protuberance of part of the jacket rubber 3 at the tire body's side wall 7, this ring-shaped rib 11 is given a maximum thickness of m which shall correspond at least to 1.5 times as large as that of the jacket rubber gauge and extends from the adjacency of the lug's 5 root toward the inside of the tire seen in the radial direction. And a stress relief groove 12 which acts under the operation of the tire shall be provided with a thickness at least corresponding to a quarter of the rib thickness at the position while a V-shaped groove 16 provided in the curvature 14, both circumferentially.
