Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a molding of the subject magnet at high dimensional accuracy having such a magnetic characteristic that the proportion of the magnetic substance is not reduced by the incorporation of a binder by heating a powder mainly composed of rare earth elements containing Y and La, and Co at a lower temperature lest the surface thereof be melted.
CONSTITUTION: A small amount of molding assistant such as zinc stearate is added to an intermetallic compound powder RM made of a transition metal M mainly composed of rare earth elements R and Co, and the mixture is press-molded. The molding is initially heated at about 300°C to evaporate the molding assistant. Then, it is heated up to 900W500°C to partially diffuse the powder surface. This prevents any lowering of the proportion of the magnetic substance ensuring a magnet molding of rare earth elements having medium of magnetic characteristics at a high dimensional accuracy.
