Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent oversupply of air at ignition time, smoothen ignition, and ensure favorable combustion from the ignition time by arranging a damper in a combustion air feed passage and coupling the damper with a heat-responsive element.
CONSTITUTION: An exhaust pipe 4 is connected to a heat exchanger 3 in a combustion main body 1, an air feed pipe 5 for conducting the outside air is connected to a combustion portion 2, and the pipe 5 is fitted with an air flow regulator 6. The regulator 6 comprises: a bottomed cylindrical main body 8 having an air hole 7 in its bottom; an arch-shaped damper 10 supported at the peripheral portion of the hole 7 by a pin 9 as a shaft; and a bimetal 12 of which one end is fixed to the main body 8 and a pin 11 at its other end is fixed on the side opposite to the pin 9. The bimetal 12 comprises a metal of a higher coefficient of expansion provided on the inside thereof, and is so designed as to deform for reducing the opening area of the hole 7 when the combustion portion 2 has not yet become hot enough at ignition time.
