Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the title composition which can be baked in a short time or at a low temperature, by reacting a specific epoxy resin with an aluminium alcoholate or a complex compound of aluminum.
CONSTITUTION: A composition containing a product obtained by reacting (A) 50W100pts.wt. of an epoxy resin having an average molecular weight of 1,000W 5,800 and an epoxy equivalent of 450W4,000 (e.g. Epikote 1007, product of Shell Chemical Corp.) with (B) 0.2W15pts. of an aluminium alcoholate of formula (R is alkyl; L is keto-enol tautomeric isomers; n is an integer of 0W3) or a complex compound of aluminum (e.g. aluminum isopropoxide), at 60W150°C. The composition may contain less than 50pts. of a phenol-formaldehyde resin.
USE: Coating of metallic can.
