Abstract

PURPOSE: To attain automatic and easy titled measurement by dipping a container with Al and that with no Al in slag to collect molten slag, and then by measuring a difference in temperature between the both by the presence of thermit reaction.
CONSTITUTION: Both containers 1 and 2 are dipped in a slag deposit layer in a furnace to collect molten slag in containers 1 and 2 respectively. In this case, since an Al wire material is installed in detection container 1 or Al powder covered with Al foil is contained, remarkable heating is caused through the thermit reaction of Al and after a certain time, collected slag rises in temperature according to the quantity of FeO. On the other hand, slag in comparison container 2 never changes in temperature. As a result, temperatures indicated by thermocouples in both containers 1 and 2 has a clear difference according to the degree of the quantity of FeO. From this temperature difference, the quantity of FeO is estimated for the standard of furnance operation.
