Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a cheap tatami mat or its core material having moderate heat retaining properties, improved moisture-absorption characteristics, air permeability, and durability, by molding a mixture of an organic polyisocyanate compound with rice or wheat hulls on a metal plate under heating and pressure.
CONSTITUTION: 100 Part by wt. of a material obtained by blending 100 parts by wt. of rice and/or wheat hulls with 0W30 parts by wt. of a single or mixed vegetable hulls, waste, or chips, e.g., wooden chips, flocks, buckwheat chaff, straw, etc. as secondary materials is blended with 3W30 parts by wt. of a mixed liquid comprising 100 parts by wt. of a terminal isocyanate group-containing prepolymer consisting of an organic polyisocyanate compound having two or more isocyanate groups per molecule or a reaction product of the organic polyisocyanate compound with a polyol having two or more active hydrogens per molecule. The resulting mixture is molded on a metal plate under heating and pressure.
